Last night over a million Australians tuned in to watch Georgia Love pick Lee Elliot in The Bachelorette.
However, their love story was overshadowed by the fact that runner-up Matty J basically had his heart ripped out, and stomped on.
From the middle of the season, the show manipulated audiences, focusing heavily on Matty J's love story with Georgia, while Lee's lurked in the shadows.
Matty and Georgia first connected after some one-on-one time after a group date, which led to their croquet date, and then the boat date where sparks really flew.
Meanwhile we had seen one brief solo beach date with Lee, and basically didn't see him and Georgia interacting until their second date weeks on.
It wasn't surprising to see Matty J declare his love for Georgia in the second last episode, considering how the show had built up their story so far.
But when Lee dropped the L-bomb last night, and viewers saw Georgia's face transform, many were left wondering when the two actually DID fall in love.
Having said that, Lee and Georgia do seem incredibly happy: but why the fuck was their actual love story edited out?!
Even Lee was disappointed, telling Sydney Morning Herald that due to the editing he initially found the show hard to watch.
A similar thing happened on The Bachelor this year. Everyone thought Nikki Gogan had it in the bag, with actual winner Alex Nation getting a worse edit.
So why the dramatic edits to manipulate audiences?
The sudden change of hyping up the runner-up and giving them a deeper love story, has left a bitter taste in viewers mouths. Many people tweeted last night that they were "done" with the show.
With the announcement of The Bachelorette Season 3 hitting screens in 2017, and casting already underway for The Bachelor, we really only have one request. Channel 10, please give us the proper love story again.
