The Definitive Ranking Of 30 Seconds To Mars Songs

In terms of music... not Jared Leto's hotness.

13. "Do or Die"

30SecondsToMarsVEVO

The past few years 30 Seconds to Mars have perfected the anthemic, "everyone sing along at these parts we included specifically to sound like chants!" type song. It barely touches the quality of their older material unfortunately.

12. "Up in the Air"

30SecondsToMarsVEVO

30 Seconds To Mars tends to experiement with their music a lot - and this song is no exception. There's vocal tweaking and synthesisers but it's just not enough to make it anything overly interesting to listen to.

10. "Kings and Queens"

30SecondsToMarsVEVO

"Kings and Queens" was the start of the trio using the big choruses and repetitive "Whoaa-ohh" chants. In this case however, it works for them.

9. "Edge Of The Earth"

30SecondsToMarsVevo

The second single from their debut album, this is 30 Seconds To Mars at their most alternative. While a good song, it wasn't the strongest single choice. (*cough* Buddha For Mary.)

8. "City of Angels"

30SecondsToMarsVEVO

City of Angels takes a slightly different turn for 30 Seconds to Mars - it's a contemplative, slower, passionate rock song dedicated to L.A. The film clip is definitely worth a watch, with stars like Kanye West, Selena Gomez and Lindsay Lohan dropping in to say some profound words.

7. "A Beautiful Lie"

30SecondsToMarsVEVO

Taken from the album with the same name, "A Beautiful Lie" is a slightly more melodic track, with a softer opening compared to its counterparts. In true 30 Seconds To Mars form, the video depicts some absolutely amazing scenery.

6. "Hurricane"

30SecondsToMarsVEVO

This is one of the rare songs from the band that doesn't launch into a heavier or faster-paced chorus. It's hard to go wrong when you're working with Kanye West. Do yourself a favour and check out the acoustic version also.

5. "Capricorn (A Brand New Name)"

30SecondsToMarsVEVO

A strong debut by the band, the song definitely gives off what one could only describe as a "space" vibe. It really hits its peak in about the third minute, where Leto's vocals completely soar.

3. "Attack"

30SecondsToMarsVevo

Angsty and with unforgiving lyrics, the song showcases Leto's defiant screaming vocals that takes the band into a heavier musical direction. A stand-out track from their second album.

1. "The Kill"

30SecondsToMarsVevo

You can't go past the powerful, brooding song that made the band an international name. Even if you've left your emo hey-day, this song will always hold a special place in the hearts of many. The acoustic version will give you complete shivers.
