“Mentally, I'm not at my best, but I'm just trying to move around physically because that's what I can give right now.”
"Even through hard times he always had a smile on his face," one friend told BuzzFeed News. "I still remember his laugh in my head."
Kim Potter, a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department, will face a second-degree manslaughter charge for the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright.
“How are we supposed to live and grow up in this place knowing that next time that might be me on the floor?”
The officer who fired the fatal shots was identified as Kim Potter, a 26-year veteran of the department and the police union president.
In body camera footage of the incident, an officer can be heard saying, "Taser, Taser Taser! Oh shit, I just shot him."
Police did not release the victim’s name, but Katie Wright identified him as her son, Daunte Wright. The shooting led hundreds of people to protest — and police to fire tear gas.
