Just a few weeks after progressive Rep. Barbara Lee convinced Republicans to repeal the 2001 legal basis for the war on terror and debate a new one, her amendment was stripped from a House bill without a vote.
The members of Congress want Trump to eliminate a law, reenacted yearly, called the Hyde Amendment.
Barbara Lee has been personally handing out invitations. She didn't endorse in California's primary — but she still received chants at her state delegation breakfast.
"And I think by the turnout and by what the response of the people around the country, we see that his message is resonating and so I think it's a good thing that he's out there."
"If we are going to send our young men and women into combat, and we are going to use force, then Congress needs to debate," Rep. Barbara Lee said.
