23 Shows On Netflix You Should Definitely Be Watching

Because there's always more good stuff you don't know yet.

Posted on

The Get Down

Netflix / Via Google

If you like music history and the groovy NY scene of the 70s, you should catch up with Get Down. For all that matters, it's also fun and soulful.

Crazyhead

Netflix / Via Google

If you're a Supernatural fan, you'll love it. The whole occult-crazy-conspiracy theme with funny twists might sound more of the same but it isn't. Trust me.

Love

Netflix / Via Google

It's not incredibly surprising but it's quite refreshing when it comes to the subject of love and relationships. It goes from dark to hilarious with fun characters so you should check it out.

Crashing

Netflix / Via Google

I have a thing for British comedies because, well...they're awesome. This show is so funny and addictive, please tell me there's (plenty) more where that came from. Please.

Easy

Netflix / Via Google

Like the name already says, it's 'easy' to get to it because it's good. Don't expect too much though, they're only short stories but there's something soothing and cute about them, just people being people...you know?

Happyish

Netflix / Via Google

I can't point why this show didn't had a chance, honestly, I thought it was pretty funny. Okay, not genius and the subject is same old but it wasn't bad, there's so much garbage on TV.

Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23

ABC / Via Google

Speaking of cancelled shows, let's go where it hurts. WHY? WHY? WHY? You can't serve us something like that and suddenly say "nope, it's over". Oh, wait...*whispers ~Fireflyyy*. Jeez, we can't have nice things.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

CW / Via Google

I almost left it out of the list because I feel betrayed. It was so amazingly good for a while but there's something off lately, I don't know what to blame, the plot or the writing but I left behind. I hate doing that, I invested so much. I moved to West Covina for you. No, I didn't. But it's like I did. You're like, Josh. I'm over you, sorry.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

BBC America / Via Google

I barely know you and I like you already, you remind me of Harry Potter and that's enough reason to sit down and watch. There's magic. It's the same thing as saying "there are dragons". Which only makes HP awesome because there's magic, and dragons. I think I lost the point.

Documentary Now!

IFC / Via Google

It's some sort of mockumentary, a well served plate for pop culture crazies and comedy lovers, it parodies the current obsession with documentaries which is appropriated because I am one of those.

The Spoils of Babylon

IFC / Via Google

I randomly bumped into this show while I was surfing around, at first look I was like "whaaat?" but now I freakin' love it. The bad acting and the absurdity makes it a perfect parody of shitty soap operas.

Master of None

Netflix / Via Google

I know, it's the little darling of alternative comedies, it won a bunch of stuff, everyone talks about it. Don't let this make you think it's a waste of time, it's really really good. Good job, Aziz!

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

Netflix / Via Google

If you ever watched the original, you need to check this. If you never heard about it, it doesn't matter. Look at this cast, just look at it. It's an instant classic.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Netflix / Via Google

“Unbreakable! They're alive, dammit! It's a miracle!”. This song got stuck in my head for days! For all the good reasons, it's funny as hell and I can't get enough of Titus Andromedon.

Broadchurch

BBC America / Via Google

I could start by saying "there's David Tennant solving cases and sh*t and speaking with his sexy accent". That should be enough, if you're a whovian. But you might have no idea why this is relevant in your life so watch it, because it's a bloody amazing tv show anyway.

The Fall

BBC / Via Google

Oh, Stella...I love you badly. This psychological thriller got me by the guts. It's tense, it's violent and it's feminist as f*ck. I'm still not sure about the ending, it got me a little confused there (I have questions!) but don't let it keep you from it. Just watch it.

Narcos

Netflix / Via Google

It's not like we don't know the story already but goddamn, they made it so good. Some people are very whiny about it and the show got some hard criticism, which I think it's a little unfair. For entertaining purposes, it delivers awesomely.

Peaky Blinders

BBC / Via Google

Oh, man...oh boy. The Shelbys. This is unusual but this show got me on the credits with the choice of "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as theme. The rest only added more awesomeness and asses being kicked "by order of the Peaky Blinders". You'll be screaming that too.

Penny Dreadful

Showtime / Via Google

It's like "The Extraordinary League" done right with some mixed details, with a bit of Del Toro and the perfect actors for it. It's beautiful, romantic, eerie and dark with the right twist of vintage and stylish horror. I'm not gonna lie, I watched the whole series 3 times already. I love it profoundly. It ended too soon. I miss you so much.

Halt and Catch Fire

AMC / Via Google

Yep, I saved the best for last. My favorite show in a long time. I am a computer nerd and a gamer so I might be little biased. I think it's perfect. I can't understand why so many people are not watching this, really. It's not just about computers, it's so much more. Fantastic cast, perfect soundtrack, amazing references. Nerdy or not, you're missing out.
