22 Struggles Anyone From A Small Family Will Understand

    It's about quality, not quantity.

    1. Family gatherings often feel a little underwhelming.

    2. Especially Christmas, when opening presents takes less than five minutes.

    3. You'll inevitably make too much food.

    4. And end up with nothing to do in the afternoon.

    5. But having so few of you around means you're perfectly comfortable with extended silences.

    6. You definitely get a chance to catch up properly with everyone.

    7. And at least there's never a queue for the bathroom.

    8. Sometimes, you get jealous of people who have massive families.

    9. But because there are so few of you, you couldn't be closer.

    10. Even if introducing your S.O. to your family can be pretty intense and feel a bit like an interview.

    11. At family catch ups, if you're not all in one room, you start to feel a bit lonely.

    12. And if one of your family goes on holiday, you suddenly feel like you've got no one to talk to.

    13. If you have a fight with someone at home, there's no way of escaping them.

    14. And good luck getting a lift to town if your mum's busy.

    15. So few family members means you have no excuse for forgetting birthdays.

    16. But at least you never have to compete for attention against lots of siblings.

    17. If you have news, you have to text everyone in your family to make sure no one feels left out.

    18. Which means everyone knows everything about each other.

    19. And, more importantly, everyone gossips about each other.

    20. But even if you do sometimes get on each other's nerves...

    21. And your whole family fits onto one sofa...

    22. You wouldn't have it any other way.
