    What Were September's Most Retweeted Front Pages?

    For the last few years - either my BBC colleague Neil Henderson or I have posted the front and back pages of the UK papers each night using the hashtag #tomorrowspaperstoday. These were the most-re-tweeted individual front pages and montages this month. Just to warn you - some people may find some of these pictures upsetting.

    1. The Independent splashed on this powerful photo of Aylan Kurdi

    With over 1,100 retweets, this front page was seen by over 270,000 on Twitter.

    Amol Rajan, Editor of the Independent wrote: "The power to shock is a vital instrument of journalism, and therefore democracy. Our motivation wasn’t avaricious; it was to shock the world into action, to improve refugee policy...and to put pressure on a Prime Minister whose behaviour in this crisis has been embarrassing."
