Last Dog On The Hill Copies Donated to Operation Gratitude

Searching for some way to help U.S. troops in the field, Steve Duno, author of the popular memoir Last Dog On The Hill: The Extraordinary Life of Lou (St. Martin's 2010), is asking readers of his book to donate their read copies to Operation Gratitude, the organization that sends out thousands of care packages to active duty U.S. soldiers. The book chronicles the life of Lou, a Rottweiler/shepherd mix who, starting life as the feral offspring of guard dogs on a Mendocino CA marijuana grow, went on to a storied life of heroism, catching rapists and robbers, saving the author's life twice, as well as helping to save hundreds of dogs from euthanasia. "Our heroes in Afghanistan deserve a little entertainment; a book about a heroic dog fighting the good fight is the perfect gift for them." Duno asks readers to send their copies to: Operation Gratitude/California Army National Guard 17330 Victory Boulevard Van Nuys, CA 91406. In order to receive an acknowledgment for donated items, Duno suggests readers include their names and addresses inside every package.
