1. The Golden Rule: You can't extinguish a bad habit, you can only change it.

When an urge or craving to do your bad habit comes on, note where you are, who you are with, what you are doing, how you feel, and what time it is. You also have to figure out what you’re getting out of it. Are you drinking because you like being drunk or because it distracts you from your stress? Are you snacking because you are hungry or because you are bored?

2. Behavior Types

Not everyone acts the same, we all have different behaviors, but the more conscious thought that goes into a behavior the easier it is to change. The three main types of behavior are automatic, burning, and common.

Sean Young’s scientific approach for changing behavior with lasting changes is called S.C.I.E.N.C.E. standing for Stepladders, Community, Important, Easy, Neurohacks, Captivating, Engrained; which are seven steps to bettering your behavior.

4. Plan Every Day In Advance

Plan the next day at the end of the current day, so you can dedicate as much as your time everyday towards your goals. Use to-do lists to sequence and manage your days efficiently.

5. Technological Time Sinks

If you are not using your technological device for communication to another person, or for your task that is at hand, then turn it off. Don’t allow yourself to become a slave to your device.

At home, make sure the work is spread out evenly among those who live there. If you hate doing something, don't do it! You will be happier and more fulfilling.

Live your life to the fullest! That means to spend every waking moment doing something productive or that makes you happy. You will thank me later.

Boundaries, above all else, for any relationship to be healthy in any way, it is imperative to treat others as you yourself would like to be treated. With that you must create your own boundaries to help preserve your personal beliefs and opinions, while also respecting other’s boundaries, recognizing that everyone holds their beliefs for a reason.
