Quick Q: Does anyone here remember the 2016 election?
No? Well, here's a quick refresher: It was Hillary Clinton vs. Donald Trump, and America was very stressed out. Anyway — lots of pop stars came out in support of HRC.
But Taylor Swift was not one of them.
This led to widespread speculation that Taylor was either a) staying out of the fray to avoid controversy, or b) a secret supporter of Trump.
Swift has made feminism a huge part of her brand, so many found her silence during the election hypocritical.

And even though the election was almost a year ago, Taylor has never been able to fully ~shake off~ the Trump rumors.

Taylor Swift seems kinda angry for someone who voted for Trump
Well, in a new interview with Yahoo, Taylor Swift's BFF (and "Look What You Made Me Do" backup dancer) Todrick Hall was asked about Taylor's politics, and he did his best to shut down any Trump speculation.
"Yeah, many people have been tweeting me, 'She supports Trump! She probably voted for Trump!'" he said. "They’re making this huge assumption, when Taylor has never to my knowledge come out and said anything about her being pro-Trump."
"That was one of the major things that was tweeted at me, and I’m like, 'So you are mad that you think she might support Donald Trump? But you’re not mad that Kanye has been very openly pro-Trump?' I don’t understand that," he continued.
He said that in his personal experience with Swift, she's always been welcoming:
All I know is that she has been nothing but a great person to me. Her family has welcomed me into their home and treated me like I was a member of the family. They’ve welcomed every single person I’ve ever brought around them. I’ve never felt like there was ever a moment that I couldn’t be myself, and talk about the fact that I’m gay or whatever.
"Maybe one day, Taylor will start being super-political, and using her voice to do the things that people think that she should be doing," he added. "But even then, she will probably be ridiculed for not being vocal enough, or not being on the right side."
"All I know is that Taylor has been nothing but sweet to me since day one," he concluded. "And if she asks me to do a video, I’m absolutely going to be there."
Of course, it's hard to ~actually know~ what Taylor's political views are unless she states them herself. But at least we have one friend's opinion.
