Ricky Gervais Brutally Roasted Celebrities For Being Fake "Woke" And Tom Hanks's Face Was Priceless

"You're in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world."

Ricky Gervais is hosting the Golden Globes again this year, and you know what that means: lots of cutaway shots to celebrities looking profoundly uncomfortable with his jokes.

Ricky had LOTS to say in his opening monologue this year, but there was one particularly awkward moment when he called out pretty much every single person sitting in the room...

...and Tom Hanks's resulting face immediately became the most memeworthy moment of the evening.

It all started when Ricky called out Apple for launching a streaming service this year. Right off the bat, Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, looked nervous.

"Apple roared into the TV game with The Morning Show," Ricky said. "A superb drama about the importance of dignity and doing the right thing, made by a company that runs sweatshops in China."

Ricky then turned his attention to all the actors, writers, and directors in the room.

"Well, you say you're woke, but the companies you work for...unbelievable. Apple, Amazon, Disney. If ISIS started a streaming service, you would call your agent, wouldn't you?"

The audience laughed nervously, but Ricky doubled down, and his annoyance was palpable:

So if you do win an award tonight, don't use it as a platform to make a political speech, right? You're in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.

"So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god, and — " (The network then cut off his mic.)

The camera then cut to poor, sweet Tom Hanks, who was sitting in the audience with the following expression on his face:

It's the perfect meme. Use it as you will!
