Here's Why Idris Elba Says He Gets "Disheartened" By The Conversation Around Him Playing James Bond
“You just get disheartened when you get people from a generational point of view going, ‘It can’t be.’"
For the past few years, there's been a whole lot of speculation that Idris Elba might play James Bond. Fans really want to see it happen.
And frankly, who can blame them? Idris is suave, sophisticated, not to mention ridiculously handsome — he gives off Big Bond Energy, TBH.
But in a new cover story for Vanity Fair, Idris opened up about the never-ending James Bond rumors, and why he sometimes gets "disheartened" by the whole conversation.
First, he made it clear that — sorry, folks — there are currently no plans for him to play Bond.
“Of course, if someone said to me ‘Do you want to play James Bond?’ I’d be like, yeah! That’s fascinating to me. But it’s not something I’ve expressed, like, 'Yeah, I wanna be the black James Bond,'” he told the magazine.
He talked about how having a Bond that breaks the mold would actually make a lot of sense for the character.
Because, by the way, we’re talking about a spy. If you really want to break it down, the more less-obvious it is, the better.
