Ellen Talked To Miley Cyrus About Hurricane Harvey And Things Got Super Emotional

She just donated $500,000 to help the people of Houston.

Miley Cyrus stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week, and when the topic turned to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, the pop star got pretty emotional:

The conversation began with Ellen informing the audience that Miley had just donated $500,000 to relief efforts in Houston.

And when Miley tried to explain what inspired her to make such a large donation, she immediately got choked up.

"I can't really talk about it," she said, holding back tears. "I don't know why. It makes me so upset."

"My grandmother's sitting here, my mom's here, and I go home to my seven dogs, and...if I didn't have that anymore, it'd just be really hard."

"So I'm really happy to help any way that I can," she concluded. "And I hope people understand, and can put themselves in those people's shoes, and just know what it feels like to have everything taken away from you."

While Miley's donation is super generous, you don't need $500,000 in order to help out. BuzzFeed has put together a list with lots of ways you can help those affected by the hurricane.

Miley is also accepting donations for Harvey relief through her charity, The Happy Hippie Foundation.
