18 Easy Ways To Actually Improve Your Life In 2019

2019 is gonna be your year.

This week, just in time for New Year's, a viral Reddit thread asked users, "What’s something small you can start doing today to better yourself?"

The thread quickly blew up, as more and more people started sharing the simple little ways they've been able to better their lives.

So while we all know know that New Year's resolutions don't *always* work out the way we expect them to, here are 18 that people actually swear by:

    1. "Make a budget and stick to it. It can change your life dramatically for the better."

    2. "If it takes less than a few minutes to do something and you're doing absolutely nothing, DO IT."

    3. "Give someone else a compliment at least once a day. It's as simple as noticing the guy next to you has a stylish tie or that your coworker's homemade lunch looks tasty. It'll make someone's day, and the effort required is so, so small."

    4. "Spend five minutes picking up the room you are in. Do that two or three times a day and eventually you'll get into the habit of keeping things clean."

    5. "Forgive your past self and learn from your previous mistakes."

    6. "Call your loved ones, especially the ones who have loved you even through your shitty times."

    7. "Write down all the stuff you've been putting off and schedule yourself specific time to get it done — it will keep you from having to constantly remind yourself, and once the task in completed, you're free."

    8. "Get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. As simple as taking a walk."

    9. "Set a sleep schedule and try to stick with it. Waking up at the same time everyday was one of the best things I’ve started doing."

    10. "Read a book for at least 10 minutes a day."

    11. "Start by writing down a goal, then make a list of smaller achievable milestones on the way to reaching that goal."

    12. "Take a break from screens every so often."

    13. "Don't say things about other people behind their backs."

    14. "Start putting $20 away from each paycheck into a savings account. Don't look at that money. Don't touch that money. That money may as well not exist. Repeat every paycheck, bumping it up as opportunity affords you."

    15. "Do your dishes before you go to bed. Waking up to a clean kitchen is a great feeling."

    16. "Drink more water."

    17. "Put moisturizer with some SPF on your face."

    And finally...

    18. "Think of three good things that happened to you throughout the day, and write them down.
