Why Do Your Dog's Feet Always Smell Like Fritos?

    It's a real thing!

Okay, dog owners, I've got a weird question for you: Have you ever noticed that your pup's paws smell like FRITOS?

If you haven't noticed this before, go get your dog RIGHT NOW and take a whiff of their feet. There's a pretty good chance you'll get some major corn chip aromas.

Now, I've noticed this Frito thing for years, but I've never said anything out loud because I was afraid people would think I was crazy. But recently, I started to do a little digging on the World Wide Web — and it turns out I am NOT ALONE!

if u have a dog, go smell its paws and try to tell me they don't smell like fritos

Lots of pet owners have noticed this weird-but-true phenomenon.

I smell my dog's paws when she's sleeping because they smell like Fritos. Also I'm not a weirdo.

For many people it's a strong Frito smell, for others it's plain old corn chips, and for some it's popcorn.

In fact, even Carrie Underwood has wondered WTF is up with this smell.

Why do dogs' paws smell like Fritos? More importantly, why do I love to smell my dogs' paws? These are a couple of life's big questions...

Okay, so why the heck do dog paws smell like these various corn snacks? It turns out there's an actual, scientific explanation for the scent.

In an interview with Huffington Post, veterinarian Dr. Robert J. Silver explained that the root cause of so-called ~Frito feet~ is... bacteria!

Specifically, a bacteria known as pseudomonas, which work their way into your dog's paws from soil and water on the ground.

The good news is, the bacteria and its resulting smell are totally harmless, so you can keep sniffing your dog's Frito feet in peace!!!

(However, if you notice an unusually strong or unpleasant scent coming from your dog, it's always a good idea to get them checked out at the vet.)

Welp, that explanation is not as cute as I was hoping it would be, but at least there's an answer!

    The more you know!
