This is Simone Anderson of New Zealand. Like many people, she has struggled with her weight her whole life, enduring years of yo-yo dieting.
Last August, she decided it was time to make a change. In 11 months, she has lost 189 pounds through a combination of diet, exercise, and weight loss surgery.
She is now about half the weight she was when she started her journey, according to her Facebook page.
Her updates include weekly check-ins, where she keeps careful notes of her progress.
Recently, Anderson posted her latest check-in. "I am officially half the person I was 11 months ago!" she wrote. "From 169kg to 83.85kg, I can't even begin to explain in words what this accomplishment feels like."
The majority of the commenters on her social media accounts wrote that Anderson was an inspiration.
But some people wrote that they didn't believe Anderson was the same person in both photos. They accused her of faking her achievement, saying that if she had truly lost that much weight she would have an abundance of excess skin.
Even though the positive comments greatly outweighed the negative, Anderson said she was bothered by her haters.
But Anderson had a great response. She decided to post a photo showing her excess skin, even though she said it was a "tough" image to share with the world.
Many people wrote that they appreciated Anderson being so candid about what it really means to lose so much weight.
Anderson told BuzzFeed News that she has been shocked to see her post resonate with so many people.
She said she hopes her story inspires people to embrace their flaws. "We would be a much better world if we all started to truly love ourselves from the inside out," she said.
