The 18-Year-Old Daughter Of "The Queen Of Versailles" Has Died

Victoria Siegel, the oldest of the eight children of hotel mogul David Siegel and his wife Jacqueline, was found dead in the family's home.

The 18-year-old daughter of the family featured in the 2012 award-winning documentary The Queen of Versailles has died, the family confirmed on Sunday.

Jacqueline Siegel, the "queen" referenced in the film's title, said on social media that the family was asking for privacy during this difficult time.

The teen was found unresponsive in her Florida home on Sunday and later pronounced dead, a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff told BuzzFeed News in a statement. No cause of death was released.

Siegel's husband David is the billionaire founder and CEO of timeshare company Westgate Resorts.

The documentary followed the family as they sought to build their dream home they nicknamed "Versailles" after the French palace. They aimed for Versailles to be the biggest single-family house in the U.S.

The project stalled after the economic downturn, but construction has since resumed with the aim of completing it in 2016, the Orlando Sentinel reported in 2013.

Victoria Siegel was 12 when the documentary about her family was filmed. In one scene, she said she preferred to be called "Rikki."

The documentary's director, Lauren Greenfield, won multiple directing awards for the film, including the Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

However, David Siegel sued, claiming the film was defamatory. The studio won the lawsuit, the Hollywood Reporter reported.Greenfield did not return a request for comment from BuzzFeed News.
