In 1959, K.M. Nanavati, a Indian Naval commander was charged with murder of his wife's lover after he found out about their extra-marital affair. Neeraj Pandey's Rustom is a re-telling of the story.

Akshay Kumar plays the tainted hero, Rustom Pavri. Ileana D'Cruz plays his wife and Arjan Bajwa plays the slain lover.

The trailer shows Rustom committing the crime but also pleading "not guilty" in the court of law.

However, being a national hero, he also gained a lot of public sympathy. So, the question asked is whether he should serve a sentence for murdering a man in cold blood.

The actual case that shook the nation in 1959, also marked the end of jury trials in India, as the jury on the Nanavati case was influenced by the public support behind the naval commander.
