New Delhi has been choking under a cloud of smog since diwali and the situation has got bad enough for the World Health Organisation to declare it the most polluted city in the world.
The air is not the only problem, however. The Yamuna river that flows through the city has always been in the news for the lack of attention paid to its treatment.
This picture, taken yesterday by Indian Express photographer Abhinav Saha at the time of the Chhath Puja festivities, encapsulates just how bad the situation is in the capital.
The photo has since been shared widely on Facebook and Twitter. This particular post by Vimlendu Jha has garnered over 900 shares at the time of writing.
People were horrified and begged Delhi's residents to help fix the situation.
This tweet probably sums their horror up the best.
