Acid Attack Survivor Laxmi Will Walk The Ramp At London Fashion Week

"The person who did this to me did it so I'd have to keep my face hidden," Laxmi said. "But I am moving on."

Acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal will be walking the ramp at the London Fashion Week starting on September 16.

The 28-year-old is also the founder of the NGO Stop Acid Attacks. This is not the first time she will be representing India at the international level.

She was felicitated by Michelle Obama after winning the International Women of Courage Award for successfully leading a campaign against acid attacks on women in India in 2014.

In an interview with Times of India, Laxmi said:

"I am happy that a message is being sent to women to fight this. Jisne hamare saath aisa kiya tha, isliye kiya tha ki hum chehra chhupaye rakhein, par humein aage badhna hai. (The person who did this to me did it so I'd have to keep my face hidden. But I am moving on.) If walking the ramp and participating in events can inspire people, then it is a good thing."

Just last week, acid attack survivor Reshma Qureshi walked a ramp at New York Fashion Week.

    Keep making India proud, Laxmi.
