Pippa's Pain As Boyfriend Accepts Promotion
Nico Jackson, Pippa Middleton's financier boyfriend is due to move to Switzerland to take advantage of a promotion to work in a prominent Swiss bank! Nico works as a hedge fund manager and is eager to take up a new post in Switzerland, leaving Pippa behind in London.
This comes as a new blow to Pippa, who has never managed to become a fiancée, despite her efforts to convince the handsome hedge fund specialist to agree to marry and start a family. Handsome Nico works hard and has shown himself to be a good fiancé and husband to Pippa, his work as a financier making him guaranteed to become an excellent provider for any family, but he's dug his heels in and even went so far as to ask Pippa to publicly deny any kind of engagement between the two of them to the press. Pippa's thirtieth birthday was surrounded by rumors of an engagement between Nico and Pippa, with the press speculating wildly about her future as Mrs. Nico Jackson, but it was denied publicly by Pippa herself, which to the socialite was in fact a slap in the face since it's rumored that Pippa herself was the source of the leaks to the press and general media. With the chance to become married by thirty, Pippa would in fact be married and secure.
Nico's career oriented life has made Pippa proud, but it has at the same time made her worry that Nico might become the next in a long string of lovers (all wealthy and connected) who have left her hanging with no engagement and only embarrassed her. It's well known that Pippa had dreamed of being married and starting a family, by age thirty, but so far the socialite's dream has failed to materialize. If Nico breaks up with her, he will be the latest in a long list that show a disinterest in taking her seriously as a wife and mother of their children. Compared to Kate's success in getting Prince William to marry her, Pippa is seen by her ambitious mother (Carole Middleton) as 'failing' to succeed in the marriage market.
Instead it has been a nightmare of rejection and humiliation. Pippa has a checklist of preferences, but the men who meet her dream list have shown an almost callous disregard in how they involve themselves with her, but in Pippa's view, 'fail' to 'do the right thing,' which means marrying her and providing an affluent lifestyle. Yet, ironically, it could be the very checklist that she has working against her; Pippa has had high expectations, it's no secret, but the coldness of her expectations has caused a lot of wariness. Duchess Kate has in fact ended up gaining a title, financial security, as well as a prince with a glittering future as a future Queen Consort, but Pippa is oddly floundering since her public debut and also breakup with Alex Loudon. Pippa gained a contract to write and publish a book, but her main goal has been (as an open secret) to marry well and enjoy a lifestyle similar to that of her sister.
States one source, "I think Pippa is going to end up dumped, mainly since she can't seem to stop reaching for something that is out of her league. As long as she sits around and social networks, she's going to be left behind, something that she keeps experiencing as she mooches around (despite her other activities) and acts like she doesn't have to make a living." Other insiders in the social scene believe that Pippa might be left behind in London and end up stuck alone and at her age, trying to market herself will become a punchline. Since Pippa's checklist of requirements is substantial, the reaction among a lot of affluent men has been one as equally cold, many of them viewing Pippa as asking for far more than she offers in return. Men in that set know that Pippa, for all her vaunted requirements in any kind of suitor (title/bank account/family estate), offers very little in return since she is basically looking at marriage as a contract, a business deal, but an unequal one since she is obviously asking for more than she can give in exchange (a view shared by men who could ironically offer these very things to any lady).
Much younger women enter the London social scene all the time, with better chances of finding a man who will take care of them. So really, the real problem (a consensus among the London set) is likely Pippa herself, since she's looking to be taken care of and marry early when the men look beyond their early twenties. These young men she's been determined to snag from uni on are the types that view university as a time to study, projects, and enjoy life, not find a wife. Kate was lucky with William, but it is no secret that it took ten years to get him to marry her, marrying in his late twenties like a lot of men his age. States one rival socialite, "After getting dumped by each and every single eligible bachelor, that should have been a wake-up call that something is going wrong with her relationships and that she might be the problem, not them. Having a string of wealthy, connected boyfriends isn't always good, especially if she's the one getting dumped all the time"
Initially Pippa was going to move in with Nico and they would share a home in London, but this scuppering of their plans to move in has unsettled Pippa who thought she and Nico were serious enough to move in and end up having a home together, leading up to marriage and it's likely going to put a strain on their relationship, as all long distance relationships do. Nico will be working hard at his new position and it's an unlikely fact that he'll have time to spend just hanging out with Pippa and go to events together. So until she has a wedding band on her finger there is no guarantee. So realistically, she might move in with him, but until she's married, she's not really secure in any area. If they do marry, great, but thing is she has been forced to deny an engagement rumors. If he goes to Switzerland and Pippa doesn't have a ring on her finger, chances are she'll be facing yet another breakup.
Just the move to Switzerland will put a damper on his ability to go to clubs and restaurants with Pippa and Pippa isn't likely going to be able to afford an expensive home in Switzerland. As it is, Nico (something that an insider has said) isn't really the type of man who wants to marry early either way by the way he's lived his life. Nico, men like him, are the types that prefer to use their time at university and early in their career as a time to work and enjoy themselves, often not marying until their mid-thirties, if inclined towards marriage at all. Pippa is at a point where she is thirty, very little in the way of being able to make a living, and is facing a very real reality that Nico will become her ninth lover to humiliate her by ending a relationship with her after she becomes open in her interest in becoming engaged and setting up a new life.
