Facebook Challenges Google For Top Referrer On The BuzzFeed Network

Social referrals grew in the first half of 2012 with April and May marking the first month that Facebook overtook Google as a top referrer on the BuzzFeed Network. Facebook's rate of growth also outpaced search traffic growth, growing at a rate of 84% over the past twelve months compared to all referrals from search engines, which experienced a 12% drop in total referrals. Other social media sites exhibiting strong growth included Pinterest (163%), Twitter (95%) and Reddit (16%).
