13 Reasons It's Not Too Early To Get Excited For Ellen Page And Julianne Moore In "Freeheld"

Yes, these ladies are going to be in a film together – but that's only the first reason to rejoice.

There is no release date, trailer, or pretty much anything for Peter Sollett's upcoming film Freeheld – but that's no reason not to scrape every little piece of precious information on this film together and get excited right now.

    1. The film will star Ellen Page and Julianne Moore as Stacie Andree and Laurel Hester, a New Jersey couple in a domestic partnership.

    2. Freeheld is based on a true story, first brought to the screen in Cynthia Wade's 2007 Oscar-winning documentary short of the same title.

After being diagnosed with cancer, Detective Lieutenant Laurel Hester fought to legally transfer her earned pension over to her partner, Stacie Andree, a mechanic.

At the time of her diagnosis, 49-year-old Hester was given less than a year to live.

When she requested her pension be given to her partner, the county refused as she was not legally married to a man.

The couple would spend their final days together fighting to change Ocean County's pension policy.

    3. It's a film that has been – quite literally – years in the making.

Page has been attached to the film since 2008 and has discussed how important the project is to her personally in interviews over the past few years.

    4. The cast is passionate about what the film stands for. After a New York Catholic High School backed out of allowing the crew to film there, due to the film's LGBT content, Page sounded off:

Using religion to justify bigotry makes me sad. Sending my support 2 the LGBT students at the school who I hope r able 2 find acceptance.

    5. Page and Moore are SUPER HAPPY to be working together.

Seriously, the cute tweets are nonstop during filming.

"Remember hickeys? They were awful!!! Why???????" - @_juliannemoore 's thoughts on hickeys

    6. The screenplay is written by Ron Nyswaner, who received an Oscar nomination for Philadelphia in 1993.

The supporting cast is also worth swooning over:

    7. The talented Steve Carell will portray Steven Goldstein, an LGBT activist who takes up the couple's cause.

    8. True Blood star Luke Grimes takes on the role of a police officer who supports Hester in her fight against the local government.

    9. Page has been getting her hands dirty while preparing for the role.

    10. Everyone's favorite Canadian is also rocking a new short hairstyle for her part as Stacie Andree.
