Nick Clegg has been spotted dancing to 5ive and the photographic evidence is glorious.
Forgotten 5ive? Quick reminder:
The picture was taken last night at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park, where the Liberal Democrats hosted an event to thank staff who campaigned during the general election.
Callum Morton, a Liberal Democrat councillor, told BuzzFeed News that the former deputy prime minister had a great night. "Clegg had a couple of drinks and was just dancing the rest of the time."
Although Clegg clearly enjoyed 5ive, Morton said that "he loved Prince more", and made the DJ play five Prince songs.
Despite Clegg resigning as party leader last week after the Lib Dems only won eight seats, the mood at the party was "cheerful," according to Mortimer.
"People are clearly in the mood for a fightback," he said. "Many had worked very hard over the past five years so just wanted to enjoy themselves."
More than 11,000 people have joined the Lib Dems since last Thursday.
Clegg was joined on the dancefloor by his wife, Miriam González Durántez – a partner at a legal practice – but he found the time to give a brief speech and speak to activists at the event.
When asked to describe the night in a short phrase, Mortimer said: "It was a family coming together."
Post-resignation Clegg is the best Clegg yet.
