24 Life-Changing Habits That Some Women Say Have Improved Their Daily Lives

I'm definitely going to try these!

Recently, Reddit user u/nweike asked women to share the things that have drastically improved the quality of their lives. There was a lot of great advice that, honestly, could apply to anyone, not just women! Here were some of their most interesting responses:

1. "Getting a new mattress. We always bought cheap bedding, but we recently splurged on a pricy mattress and some nice sheets. Our bed is SO much more comfy. It makes sleeping a whole new experience!"

2. "I stopped using social media. I didn’t really have anything to post myself, so I just kept scrolling and wishing I was as successful as my peers. It took me awhile to realize that I don’t need to compare myself and I don’t need to post every picture I take."

3. "Getting a bidet attachment. I feel so clean and fresh."

4. "Running or exercising. It has improved my mental health and self-confidence, which has had positive effects on my personal and professional life."

5. "Getting an IUD to control excessive menstrual bleeding. It literally changed my life."

6. "Making lists on my phone. I have lists for groceries, video games, things to Google, what to do when you're bored, and beauty products. My brain doesn't remember much if I don't type it out."

7. "Moving out of a one-bedroom apartment in the city to a two-bedroom apartment in an adorable community with green space. I have a separate room for everything I need to do now, and the office is so clutch."

8. "Getting a sleep study done and subsequently starting CPAP therapy at night. My under-eye circles have faded, I sleep for the full night, and I'm no longer exhausted."

9. "Adopting an older shelter dog. I was nervous about taking this step, but it's taught me how important it is to take a leap of faith and trust my ability to problem-solve and adapt. Watching my dog become comfortable and happy after living a difficult life is priceless. The progress we've made together is my greatest achievement."

10. "Gardening! Planting flower bulbs in the fall and seeing the results in the spring, as well as watching plants grow over the years, is the most rewarding experience. Even the failures are learning lessons."

11. "Powerlifting. It makes me confident that I can conquer my days. When something makes me nervous I say to myself, 'You have squatted 400 pounds and you're worried about this?' and it helps me dust myself off and keep going."

12. "Getting cats! Their laid back personalities bring an amazing calmness to my home and they give me so much love during the day."

13. "Drinking lots of water. Your skin looks way better and you feel better. There’s really no downside."

14. "I quit dying my hair. For 20 years, I dyed my hair red, watching my roots, using special shampoos and rinses, and spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours. After a bad experience, I stopped. I didn't realize how stressful it was to make appointments, find babysitters, get time off work, check my roots, and hunt for hair products."

15. "Ordering groceries online. It lifted such a weight off my shoulders because I hate grocery shopping with a burning passion."

17. "I stopped working a 'regular' job. I clean houses through TaskRabbit now. I set my own hours and rates, and if I don't like a client, I can just drop them. It's not for everyone since there's no job security or benefits, but my mental and physical health is so much better."

18. "Meal prepping. I make four to six servings of lunch on Sunday for the rest of the week. It saves so much time on cooking, doing dishes, and cleaning the kitchen."

19. "Getting manicures. It seems like a small thing, but when my hands look tidy, I feel 200% more confident. It affects my whole life."

20. "Standing up for myself. I used to be a people pleaser, but now I know how to say 'no' or how to call people out for their behavior. It has been a huge game changer for me!"
