10 Amazing Supporting Characters From Bollywood Movies We All Need In Our Lives

A lot of us here have grown up on Bollywood movies and, let’s be real, they’ve taught us some wonderful life lessons along the way. From love, heartbreak, and friendship to so much more — we’ve seen colours of all emotions on the screen. But if you looked beyond the central story and lead characters, you would see some really nice friendships and relationships develop because of how great the supporting cast was.

You would see a support system so good, that you’d wish you had it in your own life. These characters weren’t always a part of the main plot-line, but they shined nonetheless, in their own space, because they were so incredibly amazing.

Here are some of the supporting characters from Bollywood movies, who truly nailed the support aspect:

1. Circuit from the Munna Bhai movies.

Since we are on the topic of support, how can we start this list without Circuit? That guy was resourceful, attentive, and an overall great friend. No one cared about Munna Bhai’s feelings more than Circuit, not even Chinki. Our dude literally got a king-sized bed, organised a dance party for a terminally ill patient, and tried to get a "body" just because Munnabhai needed it. Kaash humare mohalle mein bhi Circuit aata…

2. Sweetu from Kal Ho Naa Ho.

For a person with a friend like Naina, Sweetu was extremely optimistic and positive about life. Despite what Naina and the others said, she was truly comfortable in her own skin and also a supportive friend through it all. Honestly, Sweetu deserved a better friend for the kind of person she was. 

3. Robert and Bhalla from Andaz Apna Apna.

See, I told you to look beyond the central characters to see the love shared by the supporting ones. Okay, sure Robert and Bhalla did not have any friendship with Amar or Prem, but they surely kept sticking up for each other and helping each other as much as they could – so what if their efforts didn’t always work out? Having friends like these two would mean having some really determined buddies in your life, who, despite constant failure, don’t give up.

4. Rifat Bi from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Rifat Bi knew right from the start that Anjali liked Rahul, even before Anjali knew it herself. She advised her to not keep her feelings to herself, saying “Dil ki baat dil mein nahi rehni chahiye”. But when Anjali gets her heart broken, Rifat Bi is the first person to be there for her.

5. The whole Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na gang

From college to adulthood, this gang stayed together no matter what. They dealt with friendship, heartbreak, and love together. And through it all, they never judged each other. Well, except Pappu. Because, well, he couldn’t dance saala.

6. Vijayalakshmi from Queen.

If there was someone who truly showed Rani the way to laugh, relax, and let go, it had to be Vijaylakshmi. They met in Paris when Rani was at her lowest, and throughout the first extra-sad days, Vijay was right by her side. Who can forget the "mera toh itna life kharab ho gaya hai" scene where Vijay consoled a heartbroken Rani, and then truly saw her soar and be herself again. After all, "Vijay nahi toh kya hua? Vijaylakshmi toh hai!"

7. MC Sher from Gully Boy.

MC Sher wasn’t just Murad’s mentor, but he was also someone who truly believed in him, when even he himself didn’t. It was MC Sher who pushed Murad to write and rap about his circumstances and stayed supportive throughout his journey, like a true friend. 

8. Pappu Master from Om Shanti Om.

Om always dreamed of becoming a big actor, but while he faced constant setbacks, his best friend Pappu stood by him like a rock. Just like MC Sher, Pappu never lost his belief in Om’s talents and encouraged him to pursue his big dreams. We all need a Pappu in our lives.

9. Babu Bhaiya from the Hera Pheri movies.

Who wouldn’t want someone as sassy as Babu Bhaiya in their lives? Despite his own financial state, he was rather open hearted with his kiraaydaars. Over time, they all bonded together, fell in trouble and also came out of it as a team. "Toh kya hua agar woh macchi mast tel mein fry karke kha gaya?"

10. And finally, Ali from the Dhoom films.

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking but listen to me. For all his annoying tactics, Ali was still a dependable friend to Jay. He went on with Jay’s plans, risking his life multiple times. Ali and Jay may have had quite a few disagreements too, but they still stuck around with each other, helping one another succeed. Isn't that what friendship is all about?
