THE TOP 5 REASONS WE LOVE THE WORLD CUP

EVERY 4 YEARS, THE WORLD CUP ROLLS AROUND – AND FOOTBALL FANS GO WILD! BUT, IN BEST WAY POSSIBLE. HERE ARE THE TOP 5 REASONS WHY.

    THE MOMENTS

If there’s something that is guaranteed at a World Cup, it’s that something AMAZING will happen. Whether that be a worldie-goal, an outrageous result, or a very unexpected head-butt in the final (okay, that one is pretty specific) the World Cup produces many a memorable moment.

Almost too many to choose from, in fact. What’s your favourite moment?

    THE SONGS

Like clockwork, the World Cup churns out anthem after anthem. Some are fantastic, and some are utterly terrible – I’m looking at you here, Toni Braxton!

Though, I think we can all agree that nothing – NOTHING – will ever beat John Barnes’ rapping in ‘World in Motion’. G’on yourself, Barnsey!

    THE FANS

Football fans are an interesting breed. But, every 4 years during the World Cup, football fans come together and are just one big happy family.

Fans zones were a great idea to bring opposition fans together for a good time. Sometimes the results don’t even matter.

Disclaimer: That’s a lie. The results always matter. Always. FOOTBALL!

    THE DRAMA

As the above disclaimer…disclaims, the results always matter. And it’s not even the scores. Sometimes something as insignificant as a yellow card can change your results. Sorry, Gazza!

But, something that will always go hand in hand with the World Cup is the drama. Tears, fights, goals, own-goals, managerial casualties, captains being sent home, head-butts (again), handballs – there will always be drama.

    And we love it.

    THE FOOTBALL

The one thing that will never change about the World Cup, is the football. And, as obvious as that may seem, it still needs to be said.

We love the football. We love watching it. We love the fact that there are at least 3 games a day. We love being a part of it. We love shouting at the television. We love sneaking out of work at 1.00pm to watch South Korea vs Sweden. We love it all.

    We love football.
