Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman has received wide-spread acclaim, been ranked as one of the top 100 movies OF ALL TIME, and made box office herstory.
However, none of that stopped director James Cameron from — in an interview with The Guardian last month — describing the film as a "step backwards" and saying that praise for it was "misguided."
His comments upset many fans, and Patty Jenkins herself stepped in to defend her film and its successes.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, James said that he "stood by" his criticisms, adding that he while he "[applauds] Hollywood 'letting' a woman direct a major action franchise" he didn't think that there was "anything groundbreaking in Wonder Woman."
Now this time, it's Lynda Carter who's clapping back. The actress — who iconically starred in the 1970's television adaptationThe New Adventures of Wonder Woman — told James Cameron that he did not understand the character and to "stop dissing WW."
Here's her full statement:
Whether it's Gal Gadot, Lynda Carter, Patty Jenkins, or the movie itself, the message is clear: Don't mess with Wonder Woman.
