Janelle Monáe Has Come Out As Gender Nonbinary

"Thank you for always living your truth."

This is singer and actor Janelle Monáe.

On Friday, the Sex, Explained narrator seemingly came out as gender nonbinary.

Throughout the day, the hashtag #IAmNonBinary trended on Twitter, with many users sharing photos, personal stories, and helpful tools to educate others.

Here are some ways to go beyond the binary and ensure the language you use is inclusive of non-binary people. #IAmNonbinary 💛🤍💜🖤

One person shared a tweet that said, "There is absolutely nothing better than living outside the gender binary." Janelle then quoted the tweet and added a simple, "#IAmNonBinary."

The 34-year-old Dirty Computer singer has yet to share more, including her pronouns, but fans have showered her with nothing but love and support since her announcement, saying that she's a "true inspiration," and thanking her for "always living her truth."

To quote the star herself, we stan a "free-ass motherfucker" who's "open to learning more about who I am.”

And to do it in a single tweet? Iconicqué!!!!
