The movie โ€” which first hit theaters on Nov. 22 last year โ€” will be available on the streaming platform on March 15, three months ahead of schedule.

Surprise! #Frozen2 is coming early to #DisneyPlus. Start streaming this Sunday.

According to Variety, Disney CEO Bob Chapek wanted to bring people "some fun and joy during this challenging period," referring to coronavirus, which has now been declared a national emergency.

Itโ€™s here! #Frozen2 is now streaming on #DisneyPlus in the US. Coming to Canada, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand this Tuesday.

"Frozen 2โ€™ has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time, and we are pleased to be able to share this heartwarming story early with our Disney+ subscribers to enjoy at home on any device," he said in a statement.

The news comes just days after Disney announced it was halting production on all of its upcoming Marvel shows, as well as delaying the theatrical release of Mulan indefinitely.

Disney has also closed its parks and cruise lines, as well as suspended its college program, which sparked a bit of backlash given that hundreds of people were suddenly displaced, many with no means or place to go.

With many schools closed and kids at home in quarantine, the early release of the Frozen sequel comes just in time.

Parents: What are we going to do at home with our kids for the next month?! Kids: Hold my juice box. https://t.co/ogbqLsVlCW

Although...parents are already at their wits' end with the repetition, LOL.

My God. My kids are on pace to watch Frozen 2 500 times, while they are home from school.

they put frozen 2 on disney plus & these kids gon be buggin me everyday to put it on and iโ€™m not excited to be hearing this shit every morning and night ๐Ÿ˜‚

That being said, it's still definitely a win.

With studios halting the release of their films and it being unsafe to go to the theater, many fans are hoping other studios will follow suit and release films early. What movie would you want to see come to a streaming platform? Tell us in the comments!
