Before we get started, I just want to remind everyone that body-shaming is NEVER okay.
And even though I know this, and you know this, there are a ton of people out there who, unfortunately, don't know this. Luckily, a few celebs stepped up this week to set the record straight:
Let's start with Tess Holliday. In case you didn't know, Tess is a super successful plus size model and body positivity advocate. This week, she graced the cover of Cosmopolitan UK and was super freaking excited about it.
And though a lot of people were supportive and congratulatory, there were others — like Piers Morgan — who shamed her instead.
But, Tess was not letting anyone rain on her parade and CLAPPED. BACK.
To everyone saying I’m a burden to the British health care system, I’m american so you don’t have to worry about my fat ass. Worry about what horrible people you are by whining about how me being on the cover of a glossy magazine impacts your small minded life.
You tell 'em!!
Then we have Ashley Graham. You know her. The model shared this cute BTS photo on Instagram, when a troll commented "We thought you work out."
That's when Ashley replied, “Girls with cellulite and rolls can’t work out also?”
Finally, we have Amy Schumer. In a now-deleted post, one Instagram user photoshopped a bikini photo of the comedian to make her look thinner, writing, “So I think Amy looks great already but man does she look way better I’m [sic] my OPINION in the second photo.”
When Amy saw the comparison, she stood up for herself and replied, "I disagree. I like how I really look. That's my body. I love my body for being strong and healthy and sexy."
So, dear reader, what have we learned from all this? Two things: As I said before, BODY SHAMING IS NEVER OKAY!! Secondly, don't come for Tess, Ashley, or Amy because they aren't having any of your shit.
