"Baby Driver" Could Get Buried At The Box Office...And That Makes Me Sad

Another Edgar Wright Gem Could Get Lost In The Movie Shuffle

"Baby Driver" was the talk of SXSW and is looking like another Edgar Wright gem to go along with "Shaun of the Dead" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World"

It's going to feature all the tropes of an Edgar Wright film - funny/witty dialogue, action, and some kick-ass music to boot. But it's release date isn't doing it any favors.

One week before, "Transformers: The Last Knight" releases. And regardless of critical response, it prints more money than the U.S. Treasury.

Then two days after "Baby Driver" comes out, "Despicable Me 3" drops. And I only got one word - Minions.

And going into July, there's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "War for the Planet of the Apes," both of which has gotten some great early buzz.

Edgar Wright films don't usually do well at the box office and being in the middle of this mess isn't doing it any favors

As much as I hope it does well, history isn't on Edgar's side. And the idea of "Baby Driver" getting buried at the box office makes me sad.
