Think You're Doing Enough Social Distancing Due To The Coronavirus? Take This Quiz To Find Out

#StayHome

Here's how this works: You will be given seven different scenarios. It's up to you to determine whether or not they count as proper social distancing. Let's get started.

  1. This is Julie and Brad. They decided to grab lunch at their favorite restaurant. It was mostly empty and they only interacted with the host, their server, and each other. They also used hand sanitizer. Are they practicing social distancing?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

Nope! Social distancing encourages limiting visits to nonessential public places, and dining in at restaurants is definitely not an essential activity at this point.

  2. This is Tom. His birthday is coming up and he still wants to celebrate but wanted to keep it safe and small. Instead of going out, he invited 11 of his closest friends to celebrate at his place. Is he socially distancing?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

Even though Tom wanted to keep his b-day small, the CDC has recommended limiting events and gatherings to no more than 10 people. And since Tom's headcount is 11, he's officially not social distancing. Plus, in some places, even gatherings of less than 10 people aren't recommended. TBH, he probs should've postponed the party or had it on Zoom.

  3. This is Sam. She's been spending most of her time at home since being advised to practice social distancing, but recently went to the grocery store to buy more supplies. She also stopped by the pharmacy afterward. Is she socially distancing?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

Yes! Sam is socially distancing because she's limiting her time spent in public to essential locations like the grocery store and the pharmacy.

  4. This is Chad (in the green tie). He knew the bars would be poppin' on a national holiday and didn't wanna miss an opportunity to party with his friends. He made sure to wash his hands a ton. Is he practicing social distancing?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

Heck no!!! Chad and his pals are definitely NOT staying the mandated six feet apart and with that many people, hand sanitizer ain't gonna do jack. Don't be like Chad and don't be like these people.

  5. This is Laura. Laura is a guitar teacher who usually gives her lessons in person, but in light of recent events, she decided to switch to giving her lessons online. Is she socially distancing?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

Yep! In-person classes can wait, and Laura is making a great example by using videochat to teach her students instead of meeting up.

  6. This is Kendra and Barb. They love taking walks together to catch up on neighborhood gossip. Other than doing that, they've stayed home and have only directly interacted with their immediate families. Are they practicing social distancing?

    Getty
    Correct!
    Wrong!

Nope! Do you see how close Kendra and Barb are walking next to each other??? They're basically touching elbows! Def not six feet apart and even if they're keeping their social circles small, their age makes them more vulnerable than others.

  7. This is Ted. Although he loves eating out and trying new restaurants, he decided to stay in and order delivery from a bunch of his favorite spots instead. Is he practicing social distancing?

    Getty
    Correct!
    Wrong!

Mmhmm. Not only is Ted practicing good social distancing by staying in instead of eating dinner out, but he's still supporting his local restaurants, which is an extra little cherry on top.
