Women Who Were Diagnosed With ADHD Later In Life, What Was Your Experience Like?

We want to hear your perspective.

In case you didn't know, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is often overlooked in women and girls. In fact, many women with ADHD don't receive diagnoses until they're in adulthood.

But, thanks to TikTok, there's been a lot of new conversations around women and ADHD, and how it can present differently in women than men.

FWIW, these TikToks actually have me high-key considering seeking my own ADHD diagnosis.

And since there's no better way to learn about someone's experience with something like ADHD than to ask them, we'd like to hear from you! If you're a woman who has been diagnosed with ADHD (especially later in life), what was your experience?

Did you have to go through a million different doctors and specialists before finally receiving a correct diagnosis?

What were your symptoms like? Were they mistaken for something else at first, like anxiety, for example?

TikTok led me to get a diagnosis. I hope this helps. Make sure to ask your doctor & do not self-diagnose! #adhd #adhdtiktok #adhdinwomen #fyp

Also, how has your life changed since receiving your diagnosis? Did it improve certain things for you?

Feel free to use these questions as a jumping off point to tell your story! We want to hear your personal perspective about being diagnosed with ADHD as a woman, especially the things they don't tell you online or in textbooks. Feel free to drop a comment or use this form if you'd rather stay anonymous. We'll feature your responses in an upcoming BuzzFeed Community post.
