Hillary Clinton's Passport Information Was Just Made Public By WikiLeaks

Passport information for Hillary Clinton, Victoria Nuland, and other U.S. diplomats was found in Saudi diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks Friday.

SAN FRANCISCO — Passport information for Hillary Clinton, Victoria Nuland, and other top U.S. diplomats was made public by WikiLeaks Friday as part of a cache of diplomatic cables from Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry.

The passport information, which would have been given to the Saudi foreign ministry on one of the many trips U.S. diplomats have made to the Kingdom, has now been posted online. BuzzFeed News has reached out to four individuals whose passport information was released, but has not yet heard back. BuzzFeed News also reached out to three Clinton staffers for comment, and received no replies.

In one of several cables mentioning the passport information for Clinton, a request is made for Clinton and nine members of her staff to visit the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh in March 2012.

WikiLeaks has come under fire in the past for publishing personally identifiable information, including passport information, in its leaked cables database. Though recent leaks have seen more redactions of sensitive information, former members of the group have questioned the value of putting information online which could endanger individuals.

Clinton regularly visited Saudi Arabia and met with the royal family during her time as secretary of state. She recently came under scrutiny for receiving donations from members of the Saudi royal family to the Clinton Foundation.
