1. The Superman

If you're stuck in "The Superman," try relaxing the death grip between your thighs to allow for your hips to drop.

2. The Knee Hang

This pose requires strong oblique muscles and shins of steel. If you can't get this pose in the air, try training it at the base of the pole. Hint: Use a knee pad.

3. The Jade

Not quite flat? Try dropping that back leg down a little further. It will cause your torso to move up towards the ceiling a bit (imagine you're a see-saw), but you'll look flatter! In the meantime, it's time to stretch!

4. The Allegra

A lot is going on in this pose: your back is arched, your upper hand is bearing weight and pushing against the pressure of your thigh. And THEN you have to straighten your legs?! Work on it in stages! Keep your legs bent for an easier variation until you're able to straighten them.

5. The Invert

Don't cheat and kick your way up! Core strength is essential! Try inverting with your knees bent first and then straighten them once your hips are lifted. You can use this as a conditioning exercise, too!

7. The Titanic

One night when I was drunk with my boyfriend, he jokingly goes, "YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE POLE MOVE? HANGING ON BY YOUR BUTT CHEEKS."

Well, HERE IT IS.

It's a matter of finding that sweet spot and there are a few of ways to get into this pose. Always work with someone who can spot you because the last thing you want is to come flying forward off the pole.

9. Ayesha Pencil

Wibble, wobble! Tuck your pelvis and engage your core! I mean really engage it! There. Better now?

10. Split Grip Ayesha

There's always fine tuning to do in pole dancing. You think you got it and then you find out it can be just a little bit better! In any of the straddle poses of the ayesha, ask someone if you're bringing your hips out far enough.
