I Watched Both Versions Of "Red Nose Day Actually" And Here Are The Differences

The US version is two minutes longer than the UK version. Spoilers, obviously.

Red Nose Day Actually, a follow-up to Love Actually, aired on NBC on Thursday night two months after it aired in the UK. It was made to raise money for charity.

If you haven't seen it yet and you are based in the US, you can watch it here.

The weird thing is, there are some small and subtle differences between both versions of the films.

    1. When Mark (Andrew Lincoln) knocks on Juliet's (Keira Knightley) door, she says it's March in the UK version.

But in the US version she says it's MAY.

    2. Oh, and the opening music in the UK version is the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows", while the US version is just the Love Actually theme by Craig Armstrong.

    3. In the UK version, Rufus (Rowan Atkinson) is working in a British supermarket...

But in the US version, Rufus is working in a different store entirely (which isn't actually in the UK).

    4. The kid is exactly the same in the both versions, with the queue behind in the same order, BUT HE HAS A DIFFERENT ACCENT IN EACH VERSION.

    5. The kid asks how much an item is, to which Rufus in the UK version says: "One pound."

But in the US version he says: "One dollar."

    6. In the British one the kid says this with a British accent.

In the US one he says this with an American accent.

    7. It is so damn strange to hear two accents coming from the same person.

In the UK version the kid says this, but in the US version he says, "Could you be a little bit quicker?"

    9. Oh, and in the UK version, Rufus is wearing a orange badge.

But in the US version, it's a white one.

    10. And just look at those respective queues.

    11. THE US VERSION THEN HAS A NEW SCENE: Sarah (Laura Linney) is typing on a computer late at night.

    12. She then gets a phone call, which makes you think it is from her brother, just like all the time in the original film.

    13. But it's actually Patrick Dempsey for some reason!

    14. And she tells him this.

    15. And he's like: "I just can't resist that you always, always answer the phone."

    16. He jokes to Sarah that every time he rings her she always answers, then he says she is a nice wife and she responds with this:

    17. Oh, and they have kids now.

And because Patrick is American, does she now live in America? And does Rufus live in America too? So many unanswered questions (I should get a life).

AND THAT'S ALL OF THE CHANGES. BYE!

The follow-up was filmed to raise money for Red Nose Day. To donate head to the Red Nose Day website.
