I Watched Both Versions Of "Red Nose Day Actually" And Here Are The Differences

The US version is two minutes longer than the UK version. Spoilers, obviously.

Red Nose Day Actually, a follow-up to Love Actually, aired on NBC on Thursday night two months after it aired in the UK. It was made to raise money for charity.

If you haven't seen it yet and you are based in the US, you can watch it here.

The weird thing is, there are some small and subtle differences between both versions of the films.

    1. When Mark (Andrew Lincoln) knocks on Juliet's (Keira Knightley) door, she says it's March in the UK version.

    BBC / Red Nose Day

But in the US version she says it's MAY.

This makes sense because of the months the scenes were shown.

    2. Oh, and the opening music in the UK version is the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows", while the US version is just the Love Actually theme by Craig Armstrong.

BBC / NBC / Via Facebook: nbc

    3. In the UK version, Rufus (Rowan Atkinson) is working in a British supermarket...

    BBC / Red Nose Day

But in the US version, Rufus is working in a different store entirely (which isn't actually in the UK).

    4. The kid is exactly the same in the both versions, with the queue behind in the same order, BUT HE HAS A DIFFERENT ACCENT IN EACH VERSION.

BBC / Red Nose Day / NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

    Just what are the odds.

    5. The kid asks how much an item is, to which Rufus in the UK version says: "One pound."

    BBC / Red Nose Day

But in the US version he says: "One dollar."

NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

    6. In the British one the kid says this with a British accent.

    BBC / Red Nose Day

In the US one he says this with an American accent.

    BBC / Red Nose Day

    7. It is so damn strange to hear two accents coming from the same person.

BBC / Red Nose Day / NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

In the UK version the kid says this, but in the US version he says, "Could you be a little bit quicker?"

    BBC / Red Nose Day
    1. 8. Poll for Americans:Do you understand what "could you be quite quick" means? I'm curious.

    9. Oh, and in the UK version, Rufus is wearing a orange badge.

    BBC / Red Nose Day

But in the US version, it's a white one.

Yes, I will go into this ridiculous amount of detail. Try to stop me.

    10. And just look at those respective queues.

    11. THE US VERSION THEN HAS A NEW SCENE: Sarah (Laura Linney) is typing on a computer late at night.

NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

This wasn't featured in the UK version, because Linney wasn't available. They filmed it last month.

    12. She then gets a phone call, which makes you think it is from her brother, just like all the time in the original film.

NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

    13. But it's actually Patrick Dempsey for some reason!

NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

    14. And she tells him this.

NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

    15. And he's like: "I just can't resist that you always, always answer the phone."

NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

    16. He jokes to Sarah that every time he rings her she always answers, then he says she is a nice wife and she responds with this:

NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

    17. Oh, and they have kids now.

NBC / Red Nose Day USA / Via Facebook: nbc

    AND A CAT.

And because Patrick is American, does she now live in America? And does Rufus live in America too? So many unanswered questions (I should get a life).

AND THAT'S ALL OF THE CHANGES. BYE!

The follow-up was filmed to raise money for Red Nose Day. To donate head to the Red Nose Day website.

If you haven't seen it, you can watch here (US only).
