    Richard Ayoade Has Been Announced As The New Host Of "The Crystal Maze"

    A new 20-episode series has been confirmed by Channel 4.

    Channel 4 has confirmed that The Crystal Maze will return with a brand new series and a brand new Maze Master: Richard Ayoade.

    A celebrity special raising money for the charity Stand Up to Cancer, took place last year. The special was presented by Stephen Merchant.

    The new 20-episode series will feature members of the public tackling challenges in the famous Aztec, Medieval, Industrial, and Future zones.

    The Crystal Dome is also back. Each episode will last 60 minutes.

    A new purpose-built maze will be built in Bristol, spanning 30,000 square feet. It will be created by the original Crystal Maze designer, James Dillon.

    A spokesperson for Channel 4 also told BuzzFeed News that a "slightly reworked" version of the famous theme tune will feature in the show.

    Channel 4 said the person playing Mumsie has yet to be confirmed. In the 2015 Stand Up to Cancer special, the character was played by Maureen Lipman.

    A spokeperson for Lipman told BuzzFeed News: "We have not been approached by anyone asking Maureen to reprise the role of Mumsie."

    Members of the public will also be able take part. Channel 4 said details of how you will be able to apply will be revealed soon.
