I'm thrilled to share that BuzzFeed Japan just launched on the web -- at buzzfeed.com/japan -- and across social platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.
Founded last year as a joint venture between BuzzFeed and Yahoo! JAPAN, BuzzFeed Japan is the latest addition to our global, cross-platform network -- which already generates 5 billion content views across our sites, apps and more than 30 other platforms including Facebook, YouTube and Snapchat.
We're obsessed with how content moves across languages and cultures, as well as formats and mediums. BuzzFeed Japan is another huge opportunity for us to continue learning, iterating and creating.
Led by founding editor Daisuke Furuta, the team is now publishing news, entertainment, lols and kawaiis to Japan and the world -- ranging from posts to videos to illustrations.
While the editorial team in Tokyo will focus on original Japanese content, we're going to translate and adapt posts from BuzzFeed editions around the world -- including the UK, Germany, France, Spain, India, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Australia -- to BuzzFeed Japan.
And as a content partner with Yahoo! News, BuzzFeed Japan's news content will appear on the Yahoo! News service in Japan. We also have a number of conversations happening in terms of partnerships with local news and messaging services.
BuzzFeed Japan is our 11th international edition, and BuzzFeed is now in six languages.
Help us welcome BuzzFeed Japan by visiting buzzfeed.com/japan, liking the BuzzFeed Japan Page on Facebook and following BuzzFeed Japan on Twitter.
