David Denby Hearts Mumblecore

First the New Yorker critic bravely took on Snark. Now he's recalibrated his aesthetic weaponry to champion the charms of mumblecore.

Centering on a review of Joe Swanberg's Alexander the Last (which will be showing at SXSW this weekend), Denby writes, "When the material is emotionally raw, and the nonprofessional actors show some strength, mumblecore delivers insights that Hollywood can’t come close to." Like Twitter, you can now expect to see the word mumblecore everywhere.
