Listen, I like to pinch pennies more than anyone. I have no problem stretching my dollar as far as it can possibly go. Coupons and I are basically in a long-term relationship at this point.
But there's certainly times when the line goes from "wow, that's cheap," to "hmm, pretty sure that's actually stealing?"
Like, I personally think using a water cup for any other drink besides water is definitely stealing. I mean, there's a reason why it's in a different type of cup.
Or maybe you need something printed off for a personal project and just don't feel like buying new ink for your printer. And I'm talking like 50+ pages here. So, you decide to print them at work.
Now, what if you found some leftover donuts in the break room at the end of the day and decided to take the box home? Especially when there's more than half left, and you still decide on snatching them.
Okay, now say that you're out with a friend and want the dinner on one tab, so you just offer to transfer your share to them later. But later you realize that your friend forgot about the bill and you decide not to pay until they remember.
Now, what if you're shopping for groceries and after the total is repeated to you, you pay in cash and expect some change back, but the cashier gives you back more than necessary? Like over $10 more than necessary.
What if you were walking down the street and the person in front of you dropped a bracelet, which you bent down to pick up. But you don't call them or chase after them to return it.
And let's say you're writing an important paper for work, but decide to copy a similar paper you found online. You only changed a couple words and phrases here and there, but still receive high praises and recognization later for your work.
