David Cameron Was Caught Humming A Tune After Confirming His Last Day As PM

A bit like a political mic drop.

Posted on

David Cameron made an important speech today outside 10 Downing Street.

During the short statement, he revealed his plan to officially resign as prime minister on Tuesday, paving the way for Theresa May to take up the role by Wednesday.

Here’s @David_Cameron caught on mic singing a little song after resigning as PM https://t.co/q9zBqXIOyh

But after he finished, he could be heard humming a tune as he walked back inside Number 10 before saying, "Right!"

It's unclear whether the song was a happy or sad one.

It is The West Wing that Cameron is humming isn't it?

Many people online have been speculating that it might actually be the theme tune from the hit political TV drama The West Wing .

Some people even tweeted both ditties for comparison.

. @janinegibson has a theory Cameron was aiming for the opening bars of the West Wing theme (here for comparison) https://t.co/IOd8HPMX1U

This Alan Partridge parody account also pointed out similarities between between the clip and the series.

Incredible. https://t.co/0Q2H68YAa9 (Via @jondharvey)

Although this person spoiled the fun and said it was "totally improv".

Sadly Cameron isn't singing West Wing or @Channel4News or anything else. I'm also a reflexive hummer & it's totally improv, just human noise
