Twitter Has Something To Say About Who Should Be Writing LEMONADE Pieces

#BlackExcellence for #BlackExcellence

Posted on

For the past three days, the world has been getting drunk off the same, sweet drink -- LEMONADE.

The newest album from Beyoncé has been causing quite the storm in social media, especially on Twitter, for its themes of feminism, issues of racial inequality, and more.

Because many of these themes are so closely connected to black culture, people are speaking up about just who should be writing about the album in the media.

One twitter user in particular, who goes by the name of "petty mayonnaise," had a very clear message to share on the subject of who should be covering all this Beyoncé news:

HIRE BLACK WOMEN TO WRITE ABOUT #LEMONADE. HIRE BLACK WOMEN TO WRITE ABOUT #LEMONADE. HIRE BLACK WOMEN TO WRITE ABOUT #LEMONADE. HIRE BLACK

And if the repetition and all-caps tweet did not convey a sense of importance, maybe the quantity of people liking and sharing her tweet (which is slowly becoming viral) will convince you.

Because, guess what? She's not the only one to feel this way. Here are some other tweeters sharing the same sentiment:

What I'm NOT interested in is non-blacks opinions on LEMONADE.

hello fellow White Person Writer no I do not want to read your #LEMONADE take pass #LemonadeTakes

Please. For the love of God. If you are commissioning a piece on Lemonade-commission a black, female writer. It's not that hard.

There is literally no need for some white writer to try to Rosetta Stone cultural references from #Lemonade or anything else. We. Are. Here.

I'm not a writer, so I can't speak to thinkpieces, but I sincerely hope any radio person tackling LEMONADE collaborates with a black woman.

But again, this only solidifies why, if the writer of Lemonade TPs aren't black women (or at least black), I'm ignoring the piece.

A how-to guide on writing your Lemonade thinkpiece. Are u a woman of color? If "no": stop writing & let a woman of color take the assignment

all offense but if any white people want to write a thinkpiece/ op-ed about #LEMONADE: 1) mmmmm maybe don't

If you're not a black woman I'm not interested in hearing your lemonade thinkpiece ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
