So I’ve been wanting to try out RiRi’s foundation since it dropped sometime in September, but like a thousand other (slower) black girls, I had to wait until my shade was in stock. After searching every Sephora in NYC and Long Island, I only happened upon it during a trip to California in a random JCPenny, where one sole shade 430 was available. Basically it was a JOURNEY, but it was absolutely worth it.

When I got back home to New York, I applied the foundation on my face and wow, it matched exactly. I’m one of those girls who is very much in between shades, so having found a foundation that actually matched me makes me wanna dab in appreciation or something. The formula is really buildable, so even though it says it’s medium-full coverage, you can do a full-on club look if you decide to apply multiple layers on your beautiful face. I will say that it covers up my hyperpigmentation really well without me even trying, and it doesn’t feel cakey or dry even after I've had it on the whole day.

This foundation is a gift for all black girls everywhere, but of course it would be: Rihanna wouldn’t dare let me down, and Viola Davis swears by it, so that should be reason enough to at least try it! Bless Rihanna and no one else this holiday season. —Ignacia Fulcher

First of all, THEY'RE MAGNETIC!!!!! They're all homies that feel separation anxiety when they're not together...hence the need to buy every single color. I only have three of them (Starstruck, Sinamon, and Yacht Lyfe) right now, sadly, but will very soon be adding to the collection. Although they are petite-sized, they pack a punch when it comes to pigmentation, just like all of the collection's Killawatt Highlighters. Honestly, I broke up with all my other highlighters, eyeshadows, and blushes when I bought these because I can wear them all over my face. YES, you heard that right. I can put Sinamon on my lids or on my cheeks as bronzer and similarly I can put Yacht Lyfe on my cheeks and on my lips. They're the chameleons of makeup.

Just like how Rihanna looks good in any setting, on any planet, or in any eon, you'll feel like the empress of the last-standing matriarchy. Or you'll just feel really confident, like you could walk into the office on Monday and not slam your head into the side of the coffee machine. Look, I’ve read all the hype about Fenty Beauty; I don’t live under a rock. But I know myself, and once I open that can of worms, I’ll go bankrupt. So you can only imagine my genuine disbelief when Uncensored was released, a magnificent red lip. Like, seriously, Rihanna? WTF! It’s almost as if she knew I was holding out, so she just went ahead and made the one thing I’ve been desperately searching for AND she made it so fucking amazing I would have no choice but to buy it!

I went to Sephora with my mom and told her about this amazing red lip, and being the person my mother is, she insisted on trying it right on the spot. What proceeded was a very hilarious series of events that included my mother scrambling to get it off…but that shit would not budge. It was incredible! My mother was frantic, but I was convinced! Now I love this stuff and I finally have a red lipstick that doesn’t end up all over my face and teeth!!! —Elena Garcia

I love glittery eyeshadow, which should come as zero surprise to anyone. I rarely use matte shadows, even though I probably should to balance out all the glitter on my eyes, but IDGAF, so bring on the sparkles! The moment I saw photos of the Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette, I was entranced. The packaging is ::chef kissing fingers:: and so damn ethereal — I could stare at it for ages, and that's not even the main attraction! The eyeshadows are so beautiful and varied, but honestly all colors I could see myself wearing — yes, it has my go-to gold and copper shades, but there's so much room for (non-overwhelming) experimentation. When you tone down a blue shadow and make it glittery (Midnight Bolt), it seems less intimidating (maybe my logic doesn't make sense, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

My favorite shades include Sunburst, Planet EX, Meteor Crush, Ultraviolit, Space Owt, and Mars On Fire (so basically all of them, lol) and I'm wearing some combination of those shades in the above photos, though I don't *exactly* remember at this point. Also, I'm sorry my apartment has shitty lighting, but believe me when I say these eyeshadows are way more vibrant and all-around killer IRL (guess you'll have to buy it and see for yourself 😏). The glitter stays poppin' all day and blends so well, even with my preferred method of using fingers — though when it comes to blending in my crease/outer eye colors, I lean towards my fluffy NYX and Wet N Wild brushes. I haven't used an eyeshadow palette consistently since my Naked 3 Palette and I'm gonna go ahead and say this is a showstopping upgrade to that ol' standby. —Sarah Han

Remember that gorgeous blue shade I just talked about? Yeah, that's Cosmic Ocean and Rihanna wears it way better than I ever will (but hell, I'll still try).

I wish I could bathe in a pool of Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife because my face has honestly never looked so regal and you-can't-touch-this.

Yes, I know everyone and her mother has Trophy Wife by now and all of the Killawatt Highlighters deserve just as much attention (as you'll see in the next review!), but I'm gonna wax some TW poetic because...it's literally face gold. I've never owned a highlighter THIS impactful and honestly, none of my other highlighters are as pigmented as I'd like them to be — so Trophy Wife solves this problem, hands down.

And I like to think because I have Asian yellow undertones that Trophy Wife pairs quite nicely with my skin tone? I dunno, whatever, as long as I can pretend my face is insured for thousands of dollars. I alternate between smearing this on with my fingers and using the Sigma F40 Brush, depending on my level of morning franticness. I haven't experienced any fallout, and by the end of the day, it still looks just as fresh as it did upon application. I usually use lipstick as my ~statement makeup~, but Trophy Wife is making its moves and I'm letting it take center stage. 🌟 ✨ —Sarah Han

I'm an avid YouTube makeup tutorial viewer, so it's no surprise I have a major obsession with the magic of highlighter. I never really considered dabbling in the land of highlighters until Rihanna's Fenty Beauty launch. That's when I decided I would not be left out of the beauty greatness and scooped up her Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby.

I initially purchased the highlighter to use with my Halloween costume, but after a few brushes on my cheek, I was convinced it was something I wouldn't mind using ~daily~. Both Mean Money and Hu$tla Baby are very soft, pinky-champagne tones, offering a more subtle glow than the show-stopping Trophy Wife. And as a highlighter novice, I'll say the application is hella easy. I just put a few brushes on my cheekbones and temples using a Jane Iredale fan brush. And just like that, I’m ready to take on a day with a glow that’s subtle but STILL dope. —Treye Green

I don’t wear makeup, except for the occasional hit of bold lipstick to add a pop to my outfit. Rihanna is one of my biggest style icons, so I was totally seduced by the promise of a beauty line by her and knew I would find something I wanted. I was disappointed when the initial collection didn’t include lipstick, my beauty weapon of choice, but all that changed with the Galaxy Collection. Finally, I got my hands on a RiRi-approved lipstick — and I love it.

I chose this glittery purple shade, Sci-Fly, which really makes my eyes pop. It’s bold, but not so bold that you can’t wear it every day. With just a couple swipes, this lipstick is almost light enough to pass as a gloss or tinted balm, but lay it on thick and it makes a great statement. My favorite thing about it — besides the fact that it’s cruelty free — is the pretty bulletlike packaging and the Rihanna-ness of it all. It’s really skinny, so you can be really precise when you apply, and it’s the perfect size to cover my lips without having it smear all over my face. The lipstick feels really lightweight once it’s on, too. You definitely need to reapply throughout the day, but honestly I find reapplying to be really fun because it goes on so easily and makes me feel like I’m actually good at putting on lipstick! —Katy Herman

First and foremost, I love my shiny forehead. I say with absolute confidence that my natural spotlights are really just a testament to my impeccable skin 😉. If you could see me in person, you'd run into the side of the wall, wondering what skincare gods I pray to. However, I am susceptible to pointless criticisms from online haters and in one particular video (see above, right), people dragged — I mean DRAGGED — me to hell and back about my forehead looking like someone's "school gym floor after a nice wash-up." <<<<<<<<< crickets chirping >>>>>>>>

Other than questioning whatever possessed someone to make such an inane comment (fine, yes, it was marginally funny), I thought better of leaving my forehead alone the next time I made an appearance in a video. Of course, I'm still proud of my Dewy, Glossy, and R.A.D.I.A.N.T skin, so don't worry, you'll see it again.

But to test it out, I tried Fenty's blotting powder, and yes, it clearly works wonders (see above, left). Say bye to oil! Grease! Wet floors! Shiny bowling balls!! You will transform into a matte dead person, which sure, looks cute to someone who's also dead. Me? I'm alive. I'm a living, breathing, and glowing human. Sit down, babies, and I’ll explain to you why Rihanna keeps on changing the damn game with her genius. Ok, well, first of all, the packaging is to fucking die for? The container is an actual octagon and the gloss itself is all holographic, and shit, and I love me a good holographic color.

I got the shade Gal on the Moon, which apparently goes with every fucking thing. I didn’t know this going in, but sweet baby Jesus I’m glad I know now. It doesn’t feel like a lip gloss, and for someone like me who adores a good matte lipstick, that's a major plus! When you apply it on your lips, it looks like a blueish kind of color, but throughout the day it seems like it changes to a pinkish, holographic shade that’s really flattering on darker skin tones. Not to get off track but I don’t know — hats off to Rihanna for being dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and tapping into a market that other brands wouldn’t even try to break into for WHATEVER REASON.

But getting back to business, the lip gloss lasts *all* day — I only have to reapply after I eat, which is perfect for me because I like a one-and-done kind of situation. I am a simple girl who loves makeup that does all of the work for me (full-coverage foundation, blush that actually shows up, and lip gloss that stays on my lips just in case there’s a random photo-op opportunity, the usual). Anyway, if you were looking to try out Rihanna’s line, I feel like this is the best place to start, especially if you wanna live out your Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century looks! —Ignacia Fulcher
