Why Did They Have To Murder Rachel McAdams' Hair In The "True Detective" Season Finale?

I can't stop crying. Spoilers ahead.

In a season of disappointments, Rachel McAdams' hair shone through as the light at the end of the tunnel.

That hair kept us watching. It kept us enraptured.

Rachel McAdams' hair acted. It showed us pain. It showed us confusion. It showed us determination.

That hair might not have been very complex, but goddamnit, that hair was relatable. Deep down, we were all that hair.

When the season finale started last night, we knew there would be surprises. We knew there would be fatalities.

    But no one expected this.

    *sobs uncontrollably*

Did we just get into a time machine and transport back to 1994?

Mayhaps the mom cut was just foreshadowing. Horrible, horrible foreshadowing.

You might have been too distracted to notice, but Rachel's hair wasn't the only victim in the finale. Other people died. This guy died.

    This guy died.

All of these people we were maybe (?) supposed to care about died.

BUT HOW COULD ANY OF US FOCUS ON THAT?

We needed time to mourn. But we didn't get that time. Because before we knew it, True Detective had fast-forwarded to a year later. To new hair.

Out of the ombre's ashes, a phoenix will rise. Just, like, a less hot phoenix.

Dear bob with bangs, we wish you and Rachel McAdams many happy years together. But our hearts will always be with the departed.
