Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sliders

INGREDIENTS
Servings: 6 sliders
2 chicken breasts, pounded flat and cut into thirds
Marinade
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Dash of hot sauce (optional)
Salt & pepper
Seasoned Flour
1 cup flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Vegetable oil for frying
Slider rolls, for serving
Sliced dill pickles, for serving
PREPARATION
1. Combine buttermilk, garlic, onion powder, cayenne, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour the marinade over the chicken pieces in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate 4–12 hours.
2. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a mixing bowl. Stir to combine.
3. Dip the chicken pieces in the seasoned flour on both sides and gently tap off the excess flour.
4. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add about ½ inch of vegetable oil. When oil is hot, add chicken pieces. Fry until golden brown and cooked through. Internal temperature of the chicken should be 165℉/74°C on an instant read thermometer.
5. Serve on small slider rolls with pickle slices and your favorite sauce.
