First of all, they've been around for millions of years. Like, 100 MILLION YEARS.
On average, a worker bee only produces 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in her lifetime.
Meaning it takes about 22,700 honeybees to produce ONE JAR.
And they'll fly over 90,000 MILES as a hive to produce 1kg.
Oh yeah, I addressed the worker bee as "her" in that last one. That's because ALL WORKER BEES ARE FEMALE!
They're the only insect to produce food eaten by us humans.
And they sure work harder than us.
Over 70% of our food supply is pollinated by them and other bee species.
They communicate to their fellow bee friends by dancing.
There's usually 80,000 honeybees per hive.
And they're all EXCEPTIONALLY intelligent.
But, unfortunately, they're dying due to our selfish decisions.
Just last week, 2.5 MILLION bees died from pesticides trying to eliminate another species being sprayed in South Carolina.
Albert Einstien declared that "If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live"
So, next time you see a bee, give it a high-five.
Maybe give it a bit of sugar water to save it from dehydration.
Or, just share this post with your friends to spread the awareness.
'Cause bees are amazing, and so are you!
