Because #blacklivesmatter at AU, too.
We held a protest at AU on December 3rd, 2014.
We are upset by the recent events around the country and the racism that we face on our own campus.
At 3 pm Wednesday afternoon, we gathered in front of our student center.
We staged a die-in.
We laid for four and a half minutes.
It represented the four and a half hours that Mike Brown laid in the street after Darren Wilson killed him.
Our fellow students spoke on behalf of us and on behalf of those no longer here to speak for themselves.
Then we marched.
Our Provost, Scott A. Bass, joined us.
We marched the entire course of the campus.
The issues hit close to home for many of us.
We rightfully expressed our anger.
And we took time to reflect.
In the end, we stood in silence, knowing that this is only the beginning.
