19 Things I Love About My Daddio

One for every year I've been his daughter.

1. He makes me a better person.

My dad encourages me to be the very best that I can be, to try my absolute hardest, and to never let anything get in the way of my success. It may drive me crazy at times, but I'm sure I would have given up or only given half the effort in many things had my dad's determination for me not been in the back of my mind.

2. He always knows how to cheer me up.

Whether I'm mad, sad, stressed out -- whatever it may be -- he always knows how to turn my mood around. All he has to do is look at me a certain way, crack a joke, or give me a hug or a pat on the back, and I'm feeling better in no time. I find so much comfort in that.

3. I'm his little girl.

No matter what, I will always be his little girl, and I will always feel honored to be his daughter. He makes me proud to call him my Daddy, and I do my very best to make him proud of me, too.

4. His (legit) fear of birds.

No dad on Earth has a fear just as cool as my dad's absolute biggest fear: Birds. It's truly the greatest. And funniest. And... weirdest! ;)

5. He notices.

My dad is the kind of man who actually notices the little things. My new outfit, a fresh haircut, my new makeup look -- it may sound ridiculous, but to have my dad pay attention to those details and compliment me on them makes me feel very special and beautiful. It's the simple things that mean the most :)

6. He married a wonderful woman.

To have given me the gift of such an amazing, thoughtful stepmom is one of the greatest gifts he could give me. It means the world to have her as my stepmom, and I am so grateful. It is truly a blessing.

7. Because, this:

He suffered through hours of driving just to suffer for a few more hours at the Jonas Brother's concert. He literally made my dream come true. I cried when I received the tickets, and I still get goosebumps of excitement when I remember that night. One of the best birthday gifts ever! He sure is a trooper.

8. He is SO silly.

He brightens up a room with his laugh, and always has something funny to say. He and I have countless inside jokes, and we joke around all of the time. Having a fun-loving dad made growing up so much fun. He always puts a smile on my face.

9. He is a kid at heart.

My dad is so good with kids, and it's because he basically is one himself. And it's awesome. He's always down for a game of soccer, or playing with the little ones, and there's something so sweet about that. Little kiddos have so much fun spending time with my dad, just like I did when I was a kid, too. And that makes me happy.

10. He's one of my biggest fans.

Whenever I overcome an obstacle, succeed at something, or reach my goal, my dad is always there to congratulate me and show me that he's proud. He always supports me and motivates me along the way until I get to where I'm trying to be.

11. He has learned how to cook!

If you've know my dad longer than a few years, you know that he used to NEVER cook, unless it was from a box or can. It is so cool to see him finally cooking, learning new recipes, and making delicious meals when I visit.

12. My dad has loved me through it all.

Like every child everywhere, I've made many mistakes on my journey to ~adulthood~. Although some weren't too bad, and others were pretty big, my dad has never once left my side. He's never pushed me away because of a mistake, or left me to deal with it on my own. He loves me unconditionally.

13. He eats poop.

No explanation needed.

*Inside joke*

14. His crazy cool friends.

This may sound cheesy, but its true: My dad has an amazing group of friends, and since I was born, he's included me in that. They've basically become family to me. I think it's so awesome that he has the group of friends that he does, for as long as he's had them, so it's an honor to be included in such a great family/friend circle.

My dad's given me a large family, even if our blood family might be small. They may as well all be my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I think that is really special.

15. This hairstyle happened.

The time he grew out his hair and beard and looked like Jesus? Priceless. Coolest Dad award goes to this one!

16. His HAT.

Okay, not a great picture of the infamous hat, however, it is his trademark. And I love that he loves his hat. Its so weird but its mi padre!

17. He isn't afraid to be himself (or a dog.)

My dad is a fairly introverted person who likes his routines. A lot. He eats his food a specific way, packs the same lunch daily, has a specific morning routine, ensures everything is done in a logical manner. People give him a hard time for all of these little quirks, but he owns them. He doesn't care if you think food should totally be able to touch, but to him, it's a violation of food etiquette! But that's him, and he isn't afraid to be his silly self.

18. His passion for sports.

I've never met another person who has as much enthusiasm for sports like my dad does. I could go on and on complaining about the crazy amounts of games he has watched, or listened to, or checked updates on while I sat with him, bored out of my mind, but at the same time I think it's awesome that he enjoys something so much and is so passionate about it.

He never gave up on the Royals, through all of the years that they were the underdog. He watched nearly every KU basketball game there was to watch. He even watched golf sometimes (blah!). But it's because he loves sports to death, and if it makes him happy, I'm happy for him.

19. He's the best dad I could ever ask for.

He's been the best dad that my brother and I could ask for, and we love him to pieces. Thanks, Dad, for everything you've done for us. You are so great in so many ways.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
