Is This An Easter Tradition Or Did I Just Make It Up?

It's true! In [Bermuda](https://www.gotobermuda.com/article/bermudian-traditions-easter-weekend) there is a kite festival every Good Friday, and it's not unusual to fly kites over the entire Easter weekend.

It's real!

Sorry, but this isn't a real tradition no matter how well you think you would rock that Rihanna red! Although in [Greece](https://www.wanderlust.co.uk/content/worlds-craziest-easter-traditions/), it is traditional to paint eggs red over Easter!

It's fake!

Nope, this one is a lie too. Although it is customary in [Bavarian](https://www.frankenmuth.org/blog/osterbrunnen/) culture to decorate public wells and fountains with elaborate greenery for Easter!

In [Florence](https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/holidays/easter-ideas/g191/history-easter-traditions/) there is a 350-year-old Easter tradition called "Scoppio del Carro", meaning "explosion of the cart", in which a cart full of fireworks is paraded through the street.

Yes, just like at Christmas time the people of [Sweden](https://www.countryliving.com/entertaining/g16765061/easter-traditions/?slide=29) sometimes put up trees over Easter and decorate them!

This one sounds likely because of the Christian connotations of Jesus's entombment, but it's false. However, there is a Catholic tradition called [Stations of the Cross](https://www.britannica.com/topic/Stations-of-the-Cross), in which early Christian pilgrims would visit holy sites that represented Jesus's life including his tomb.

The French village of [Bessières](https://www.lonelyplanet.com/articles/french-village-omelette-15000-eggs-easter?affil=aff-aw-uk&lpaffil=lp-affiliates&utm_campaign=affiliatewindow-UK&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=affiliatewindow-uk) celebrates every Easter Monday by cooking up a massive omelette in a tradition that stretches back to Napoleonic times!

I love horror films but this one is false. Although it is true that in [Norway](https://www.wanderlust.co.uk/content/worlds-craziest-easter-traditions/) it's customary during Easter to watch crime television and read crime novels!

Oh henny I wish this was true, but sadly no one wears wig over Easter. Although apparently it was quite normal to strap on a [bonnet](https://www.countryliving.com/entertaining/g16765061/easter-traditions/?slide=15) over Easter in the early 1900s!

Yup! In certain parts of [Eastern Europe](https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/47975475) like Ukraine and Poland, it's quite normal to go around throwing buckets of water over people on Easter Monday!

Honey, this might not be an Easter tradition, but I'm not gonna judge you for pouring a glass or two over the long weekend! Happy Easter!
